Smallest dwarf crayfish
Cambarellus diminutus
About me: Hello, I am a mexican dwarf crayfish. We need many caves and plants among which we can hide. With the caves should always be one cave more than there are crayfish in the aquarium. I can be kept in pairs in a 30L tank, but better is at least a 54L tank with 2 pairs. The socialization with shrimps (offspring will be eaten, but some will survive to keep the stock) or with small tetras (e.g. Neon Tetras, no Red Neons, they are too big) or honey gouramis (Colisa Chuna or Trichogaster Cuna) is possible. I should not be kept with fan hand shrimp and fine-feathered plants, as either I or the plants will get the short end of the stick.
General information: The males can be recognized by the mating styli arranged in a V-shape. Otherwise, both males and females are colored in different shades of brown all over the body. There is also a blue color variant.
